The proximity to the mountains can make it hard to predict what time the sunsets in Denver everyday.
From November to January, the sun sets much earlier in Colorado. The days are colder and the rays from the sun’s heat are lessened.
Sunset during the winter months in Denver can be as early as 4:30pm.
From June to August though it’s a different story! You can enjoy the sunlight hours in Denver until as late as 8:30pm.
The summer months allow for longer days and warmer temperatures, which means we can enjoy more hours of sunshine.
Daylight Savings Time will also affect the time the sunsets in Denver throughout the year.

Sloan’s Lake Park is located just west of downtown Denver and is the second biggest park in the city.
It also has the area’s largest body of water covering 177 acres available for boating, fishing, and wildlife watching.
In addition to water activities, the park is surrounded by walking and biking trails. In one direction it features expansive views of the Rocky Mountains.
In the other direction you see the urban views of downtown Denver buildings and skyscrapers.
Sloan’s Lake Park feels like an oasis in the middle of the city, and it showcases gorgeous sunsets like nothing else.
You have shimmering water, mountain ranges, and views of downtown. It’s the perfect place to watch a Denver sunset!
2. Denver Art Museum
The Denver Art Museum is one-of-a-kind and was built to be an art sculpture itself.
The building’s unique architecture is built in the heart of downtown and offers the most spectacular views of the Rocky Mountains.
The museum features several locations where you can watch a Denver sunset, including the grand patio outside or at the top of the main building.
Grab your camera and be prepared for the sun’s glow as it hits the mountains and the sparking lights of the city nearby.
3. Coors Field
Coors Field is an icon of Denver and the home of the Colorado Rockies baseball team.

The park is located 7 miles northwest of downtown Denver and features a well-maintained walking, running and biking path.
The landscape in the park is also well-maintained with several different types of fruit trees, and silver maples.
Flower beds also line the paths with local plants and fauna. And a 700-foot long white concrete retaining wall acts as security against the edge below.
Not only that but Inspiration Point Park is situated in a way that offers 360-degree views of the Colorado mountains and the Denver cityscape.

The Denver International Airport may not be the most popular spot to watch a sunset, but it still deserves a spot on this list.
Due to its location, east of Denver more towards the open plains, DIA showcases the majesty of the Colorado mountains.
There’s nothing like flying into Denver and seeing the sunset over the mountains.
As you look west you’ll see the Rocky Mountains in the distance, along with expansive views of the city and landscape.
Take time to relax in any of the Airline Lounges or simply enjoy an evening drive towards downtown Denver.

7. City Park
No matter where you are in City Park, you’ll see amazing views of the sun as it sets over Denver.
City Park is home to destinations like the Denver Zoo and the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.

This is a great destination for families with young kids or adults on a romantic night out.
We recommend heading to the Anschutz Family Sky Terrace as it’s one of the best ways to watch the sunset.
It overlooks the tall Denver buildings, the greenspace of City Park, and offers panoramic views of the Rocky Mountains.
